It All Started With a Sweet Dream
One day, I told my mom I wanted to start working the summer I turned fourteen. She looked at me with a sarcastic smile and said, "You? You want to work?"
I said, "Yes! Maybe at a Dunkin' Donuts or Burger King — like you and dad when you first started."
She laughed — as she always does — and in a playful, deep voice said: "I had a dream…"
And that's where Lady M's Dulcería was born.
Mom looked at me and said, "I'm going to make a businesswoman out of you, kiddo. You're not going to work for anyone else. You're not going to make someone else rich. You're going to work for yourself. I'm going to start a business for you and your brothers — each of you will have your own business. And one day, others will work for you."
Just like that, a dream became a reality.
